How to Search in JSTOR

Search Tips

  1. Try an Advanced Search.

  2. Type  the author's last name or first & last name in the 1st search window (e.g., salinger). Leave the full-text menu on the right as is.

  3. If you are searching for criticism on a particular work, type the title of the work in the 2nd search window.  If the title is more than one word, you may want to place the title within quotes  ( " " ).  (e.g."catcher in the rye").  Leave the full-text menu on the right as is.

  4. Scroll down to the Narrow by: section and checkmark the box next to Article from the Item Type menu.
  5. Scroll down to the Narrow by Discipline and/or Publication Title section and checkmark the box next toLanguage & Literature.
